Title: Clinical application of CT guided percutaneous acetic acid injection in hepatocellular carcinoma:report of 64 cases
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the curative effect of 46 cases with primary hepato-cellular carcinoma after CT-guided percutaneous acetic acid injection(PAI).Methods Forty-six patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma underwent PAI.Fourteen HCC nodules were equal or smaller than 3 cm in diameter.Thirty-six were 3-5 cm,and 11 were bigger than 5 cm in diameter.Ten patients had multi-lesions.Results CT-guided PAI had been 145 times on 61 lesions in 46 cases. The puncture successful rate was 100%.The necrosis rate was from 71% to 100%.The 1-,2-,3-and 4-year cumulative survival rates of the cases with small hepatocellular carcinoma(≤3 cm in diameter) were 100%、92%、83% and 67%(P0.05),respectively.The 1-,2-,3-and 4-year cumulative survival rates of the cases with lesions(3 cmdiameter≤5 cm) were 89%、78%、67% and 44%(P0.05).1-2-year cumulative survival rates of the cases with lesions(5 cm in diameter) were 29% and 14%(P0.05),respectively.Complications included pain, fever, chemical pleuritis, chemical peritonitis and pneumothorax. Two cases had ascites, one case hydrothorax, and one case pneumothorax. Conclusion CT-guided PAI is safe and effective for treatment of HCC,and has a good survival rate.
