Title: Differences in Data Quality between Social Media and Traditional Mode Surveys
Abstract: This paper studied the differences among data qualities of pen-and-pencil survey,web survey,BBS survey,microblog survey and Instant Messenger survey from two perspectives of response quality and socially desirable responding.The results show that scales with different sensitivities produce different effects on data qualities of five survey methods.There are significant differences in response quality among five survey methods when using the same scale.Furthermore,sensitivities of scales have different impact on social desirability bias of five survey methods.This research aims to indicate the impact of mode differences on data quality among five survey methods so that researchers can consider the potential risks when integrating the similar mixed-mode data in the future.
