Title: Modeling and Performance Analysis of the Closed Cooling Tower
Abstract: The effect of the inlet parameters of air,air mass flow rate and spray water rate on the performance of closed cooling tower is discussed in the paper.A mathematical model for evaluating heat and mass transfer performance of closed cooling tower is set up.The analytical solution of differential equations is derived. It is found that for the fixed dimension,an increase in wet bulb temperature of air results in an increase in cooling water temperature at the exit of the cooling tower. The exit temperature of the cooling water also decreases with an increase in air mass flow rate and spray water rate. However, the rate of decrease in cooling water exit temperature decreases with an increase in air mass flow rate and spray water rate. The results show that the analytical solution of mathematical model can be used to predict the performance of closed cooling tower and the parameter distribution along the height of cooling tower, which is favorable for optimization of the design and operating of the cooling tower.
