Title: Study on uniaxial tension properties of steel treated by Q&P process
Abstract: Uniaxial tension properties of a low alloy martenstic steel treated by QP(quenching and partitioning) processes were investigated, and compared with those treated by traditional QT(quenching and tempering) processes.SEM and XRD were employed to examine microstructure and volume fraction of retained austenite, respectively. The results show that under the same total elongation, the steel treated by QP process exhibits higher strength, strain hardening exponent and formation energy of crack than those treated by QT process. In the process of tensile deformation, fresh martensite of the steel strengthens the matrix, and retained austenite harmonizes deformation, relaxing stress and blunting crack. The multiphase structure with hard matrix and retained austenite leads to a combination of high strength and good ductility of the steel treated by QP process.
