Title: House panel studies AAP-backed access proposal
Abstract: AAP President Daniel Shea, M.D., and U.S. Rep. Robert Matsui (D-Calif.) told House leaders, Oct. 10, that an AAP-supported health insurance reform bill would give children and pregnant women the best chance for financial access to health care.
Testifying during the first of a series of congressional hearings on health care reform proposals before the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, Dr. Shea and Matsui outlined The Children and Pregnant Women's Health Insurance Act (H.R. 3393). Matsui introduced the bill in September. It aims to provide financial access to health insurance for all U.S. children and pregnant women.
