Title: Chiral Liquid Chromatography: Recent Applications with Special Emphasis on the Enantioseparation of Amino Compounds
Abstract: Abstract The biological and chemical properties determined by the molecular asymmetry play an especially important role in nature. If a racemic compound comes in contact with a chirally selective living system, the effects of the enantiomers may be different, resulting in different biological consequences, division, metabolism, excretion, and so on. Accordingly, a demand has arisen in pharmaceutical and other therapeutic fundamental research for the analytical qualification and quantification of chiral products. High‐performance liquid chromatography ( HPLC ) on chiral stationary phases is an effective analytical tool for the resolution of chiral compounds on both analytical and preparative scales. This chapter summarizes the direct HPLC separations applying different types of chiral stationary phases; however, indirect methods are also briefly discussed.
