Title: User Convenience Analysis of Urban Railway Using Survey
Abstract: This paper uses traveler survey to measure convenience of urban subway system and thereby to provide index for the level of operation service. The survey was designed with 5 variables -fare, waiting time, travel time, approaching time, transfer- based on stated preference (SP) method. Each variable has 2 to 4 alternatives that can compose 192 possible combinations. For survey, we have 15 sets of survey questionnaires using orthogonal experimental design table of SP method and paired comparison. A total of 2,473 choice sets were collected from 401 respondents who are actual subway users in Daejeon city. Based on this survey, logit analysis has been conducted. The analysis shows that the respondents have the biggest perception for waiting time suggesting that the operation policy to reduce waiting time would increase the users' utility.
