The southernmost distributions of tropical and subtropical rainforests (the Paranaenese and Yungas phytogeographic provinces) occur in Argentina. A number of bats typical of these rainforests are present in Argentina, but it is not known which species occur and how much modification there is in diversity and population abundance. Some comparisons have been made between a locality in Bolivia (7 km N Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz Department) on the border between savannas and forest, and several localities in the wet montane and transition forests of northwestern Argentina. The latter, mainly in the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, and Tucum~an, show a vegetation type similar to that in Bolivia, but with aRead More
