Title: B-005 CYCLOPHILIN A IN HYPERTENSION OR DM RELATED CAROTID ATHEROSCLEROSIS
Abstract: Background Cyclophilin A (CyPA), a member of the immunophilin family, is secreted by vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMCs) in response to oxidative stress and progress the smooth muscle proliferation and accumulation of foam cell. In present study, we will evaluate the status of plasma CyPA in health, hyper-LDL, hypertension, DM and smoking populations and correspond to the surrogate index of atherosclerosis. Methods/Results Five kinds of population, including health (n = 44), hyper-LDL (n = 30), hypertension (n = 16), DM (n = 121) and smoking (n = 57), were recruited in ChaughuaChristianHospital from 2009 to 2010. The significant higher level of plasma CyPA (P < 0.05) was found in hypertension and DM population, but not smoking or hyper-LDL, compared with health population. In hypertension or DM patients, the hyper-CyPA was disclosed as an add-on risk molecular contributes to the increased carotid IMT and plaque formation. Conclusions Controlling common risk factor of atherosclerosis is consensus to the reduction of vascular disease. However, the plasma CyPA may provide anunique information to monitor the status of oxidative stress related smooth muscle or form cell proliferation in hypertension or DM related carotid atherosclerosis.
