The basis of the approach is a heterogeneous spectral element method implemented on multi‐GPU applied to acoustic‐elastic wave equation. The approach was designed to simulate wave propagation in 3D arbitrary anisotropic elastic media with attenuation for a constant Q via standard linear solid using the τ method. Due to the use of an unstructured grid, the spectral element algorithm enables handling tools in a fluid‐filled borehole with surrounding geological models of big complexity. We compare results with analytical solutions and discuss results and computational efforts of simulation for arbitrary anisotropic inhomogeneous models.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3628113FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byPoroelastoplastic modeling of a borehole stability under small and finite strains using isoparametric spectral element method18 July 2022 | Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Vol. 79Simulation of shear bands localization in poroelastoplastic solid using spectral element method on GPUSimulation of borehole acoustic wavefields in fractured media by combining the spectral-element method and linear-slip modelJiaqi Xu, Qing Huo Liu, Hengshan Hu, and Yang Zhong1 September 2021 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 86, No. 5VTI parameters determination from synthetic sonic logging data using a convolutional neural networkMaksim Bazulin, Denis Sabitov, and Marwan Charara25 September 2020Discontinuous Galerkin modeling of 3D arbitrary anisotropic QQiwei Zhan, Mingwei Zhuang, Yuan Fang, and Qing Huo Liu23 October 2019 | GEOPHYSICS, Vol. 84, No. 6The rotated Cartesian coordinate method to remove the axial singularity of cylindrical coordinates in finite‐difference schemes for elastic and viscoelastic waves8 December 2017 | Geophysical Prospecting, Vol. 66, No. S1The Implementation of Spectral Element Method in a CAE System for the Solution of Elasticity Problems on Hybrid Curvilinear MeshesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, Vol. 2017LWD unipole for probing azimuthally heterogeneous formation properties: Characterization through numerical modeling and field dataNaoki Sakiyama, Denis Syresin, Ryohei Iritani, Hiroaki Yamamoto, and Hiroshi Nakajima1 September 2016Borehole Geophysics Complete Session1 September 2016Technical Program in full - Part I (ACQ 1 - PS P1)1 September 2016Anisotropic elastic full-waveform inversion of walkaway vertical seismic profiling data from the Arabian Gulf23 April 2015 | Geophysical Prospecting, Vol. 64, No. 1 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2011ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2011 Pages: 4424 Publisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 08 Aug 2011 CITATION INFORMATION Marwan Charara, Anatoly Vershinin, Evgeniya Deger, Denis Sabitov, and Grigory Pekar, (2011), "3D spectral element method simulation of sonic logging in anisotropic viscoelastic media," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 432-437. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.3628113 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ...
