Title: Will Us Dollar Continue as the World Most Important Reserve Currency?
Abstract: ÚvodAmerický dolar (USD) si za dobu své 225leté existence 1 vydobyl výjimečné postavení mezi světovými měnami.Podstatnou část jeho vývoje byla hodnota USD svázána s drahými kovy -se stříbrem (do roku 1900) a zlatem (do roku 1971).O celosvětové rozšíření a postupnou dominanci USD v mezinárodním měnovém systému se však postaraly až dohody z Bretton Woods z roku 1944, které řešily poválečné uspořádání mezinárodního měnového systému.USD získával i následně na síle a stal se nejvýznamnější světovou měnou, k čemuž souběžně přispělo několik tendencí: (i) poskytnutí poválečné dolarové pomoci západoevropským státům a Japonsku, (ii) oceňování ropných, ale i většiny ostatních komoditních kontraktů v USD a vznik tzv.petrodolarů, 2 (iii) postupné oslabování vlivu Velké Británie jako supervelmoci a vznik eurodolarů a (iv) studená válka a zbrojní kontrakty denominované zejména v USD.Vždy, když po pádu bretton-woodského systému procházel dolar obdobími poměrně silného oslabení (1977-78, 1985-89, 1993-95), objevily se úvahy zpochybňující postavení USD jako hlavní světové rezervní měny.Takové pochyby byly vždy vysoce hypotetické, neboť jak článek dále ukazuje, prozatím neexistuje skutečná alternativa vůči dolaru.
