Title: In Vitro Microsomal Epoxidase Activity and Susceptibility to Carbaryl and Carbaryl-Piperonyl Butoxide Combinations in House Crickets of Different Age and Sex123
Abstract: The toxicity of carbaryl and its synergism by piperonyl butoxide are correlated with in vitro microsomal expoxidase levels in the malpighian tubules of Acheta domesticus (L.) adults of different age and sex. The largest differences in each of these parameters occurred during the 1st week With the female adult insect. Male crickets which consistently showed lower levels of microsomal epoxidase were markedly more susceptible to carbaryl alone, although both sexes were equally susceptible to carbaryl-piperonyl butoxide combinations.
