Title: Liposarcoma arising in symplastic leiomyoma
Abstract: Liposarcoma is a frequent soft tissue sarcoma found in adults. Uterine liposarcoma is considered of rare occurrence and liposarcoma with benign leiomyoma is even rarer. There are only two cases reported to date in the English literature. The finding of a benign lipomatous component in atypical leiomyoma (lipoleiomyoma) is not uncommon. Only a few cases have been reported as lipoleiomyosarcoma. We report an extremely rare case of liposarcoma arising in symplastic leiomyoma (atypical leiomyoma) in the uterine corpus of a 52-year-old woman who presented with postmenopausal bleeding with huge a uterine mass diagnosed as huge uterine fibroid both clinically and by ultrasound.
