Abstract:To estimate possible upgrading of New Zealand Ilmenite, microscopic examinations and flotation tests with tallow amines were carried out for several fractions of the ground Ilmenite.Silicate minerals ...To estimate possible upgrading of New Zealand Ilmenite, microscopic examinations and flotation tests with tallow amines were carried out for several fractions of the ground Ilmenite.Silicate minerals with the Ilmenite were composed mainly of feldspars and micaceous minerals, with lesser some other silicates, apatite and hematite, etc., and many of the Ilmenite grains contained more or less fine silicates as inclusions. The liberation of the silicates and the Ilmenite was poor for the presence of silicate inclusions. The fraction between 350 mesh and 10μ, for example, only liberated some 25% of total silicates in the ilmenite. The flotation results indicated that practical up-grading of New Zealaud ilmenite would be predicted up to 49 to 50% as TiO2 content.Read More
