Title: Strategy and Process in the Asahimachi Branch Library.
Abstract: Nowadays Internet users are increasing rapidly. The Internet is no longer only for technical experts. So Asahimachi Branch Library decided to provide an Internet connection and introduce Internet access to its users. The Internet protocols allow computer-to-computer communication to provide e-mail, network news, gopher, and WWW. In WWW there would be about 8 million sites. We first chose this function, and prepared navigation tools and directories. Also we educated users about the Internet environment. The trend has been toward developing independent end users and the proliferation of networked resources would accelerate this development. The use of Internet as a source of communication, resource sharing, and information delivery will change the way libraries do business and change the behavior of their users. The Internet would be the mainstream of librarianship, so we librarians must acquire new methods of service.
