Adult females lived fr...The time for development of the leafhopper Deltocephalus sonorus Ball from egg to adult ranged from 33 to 52 days. The insect has a gradual metamorphosis with 5 nymphal instars. Adult females lived from 17 to 38 days. Their average fecundity was 27+ eggs per female. Peak oviposition occurred 72–96 hours after pairing, and the females tended to oviposit on alternate days thereafter. The species reproduced freely on small grains, grasses, sorghums, and maize.
