Title: New Phenolic Compounds from Dendrobium 'Shi Hu'
Abstract: Dendrobium 'Shi Hu' is an important plant in traditional Chinese medicine and is also known as 'Sekkoku' in Japanese Kampo medicine. Although 'Shi Hu' can refer to several species within Dendrobium, the main species Dendrobium nobile is used as an analgesic and a tonic in China and Japan [1]. Alkaloids [2], bibenzyls [3], phenanthrenes [4], and sesquiterpenoids [5] have been isolated from this plant. We investigated new chemical constituents from this plant. Here we report the isolation of three new phenolic glycosides along with known compounds. Their structures were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR experiments and MS spectra analyses.
