Title: Agonistic Signals and Hierarchy Changes of Antelope Squirrels
Abstract: Agonistic signals were studied in antelope squirrels (Ammospermophilus leucurus) as part of a general study of the organizational system of this species. Visual and tactile signals are described and catalogued using a numerical system indicating relative strength and weakness of both aggressive and submissive signals. The functioning of these signals is indicated by a description of the changes in relationships over a 5 month period of three males in the population, including a description of a single fight which resulted in a dominance change.
