Title: Acid and Alkaline Phosphatases in House Flies of Different Ages
Abstract: The activity of acid and alkaline phosphatases was determined in house flies of different ages. Analyses were based on the hydrolysis of beta-naphthol phosphate. Acid phosphatase activity was highest in eggs and puparia. In adults, activity in females was greater than in males, but this finding does not seem to be associated with the longer life span of the female. Alkaline phosphatase activity was highest in 2-day-old larvae.
