Abstract: The necessity of writing this article is called forth by absence of appropriate information about types and means of deriving grammatical forms in present day Tajik, as well as about kinds of morphemes used in formbuilding. It is necessary to distinguish between the word building and formbuilding morphemes as they have got different functions. The following types of morphemes refer to formbuilding morphemes: root morpheme, inflexional morpheme, substitutional morpheme and zero morpheme. Some of these morphemes are used in deriving a synthetic type. Another group of morphemes serve to derive analytical types consisting of a word-morpheme, a root morpheme and an inflexional morpheme. Modern Tajik rarely makes use of supplative formations which are derived by a complete change of the word stem.
