Title: Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Its Application in Pediatric Dentistry
Abstract: Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has shown favorable clinical results in endodontics including repair of root perforations and root external resorption, material for retrograde filling, and even root-end filling. Recently because of its excellent biocompatibility and sealing ability, MTA had the potential to become a replacement material for treating pulptomy in the primary teeth and apexification in the young permanent teeth. However, it is still a new cement and has very few in vivo clinical studies to draw definitive conclusions. The purposes of this article were to review the physical and chemical properties of MTA, and to understand its possible clinical applications in pediatric dentistry.
