Title: Privatization of healthcare industry in India: Prospects & problems
Abstract: This paper mainly focuses on the prospects and problems of privatization of healthcare sector in India. Indian healthcare industry is at growing stage and is thereby not subjected to strict regulations by the government. There are very low levels of government funding for health care in India, with less than 4–5% of total government resources being allocated. Nearly 80 percent of the expenditure on healthcare is funded by the private individuals or institutions from their own pockets and the rest is funded by the government. There is a need to understand how the healthcare is performing in India. The government has put only a little stress on the importance of healthcare system and its requirements in India. Further the study emphasis on the vast scope for growth and development of healthcare sector in the future.
