Abstract: Several examples of the depiction of earthly garden paradise from literary works through the ages are presented. Descriptions of such paradise as expressed in works such as Chaucer's 'Parlement of Foules' and Claudian's 'Epithalamium of Honorius and Maria' are discussed, along with two 'love's fool-paradise' described in 'Merchant's Tale' and 'Fairie Queene, Bk.II.
