Abstract: SCHAUENBERG (Studer 1883); de Steckborn, au bord du lac de Constance (Rutimeyer 1862) et du lac de Wauwil (Hescheler et Rueger 1939).A une époque fort ancienne, le lynx a progressivement déserté les forêts du Plateau, pour se réfugier dans les montagnes.Il a subsisté jusqu'à la fin du xixe siècle, en Suisse et jusqu'au début du xxe siècle dans les Alpes occidentales, où l'Homme l'a finalement exterminé.LE LYNX DANS LES CANTONS SUISSES Les cantons sont classés d'après leur ordre alphabétique: Appenzell Selon Steinmuller (1821) le derniei lynx a été abattu en 1791.En 1835, Rusch ne mentionne pas l'espèce dans sa liste.Argovie « Quittant les montagnes, le lynx s'égare exceptionnellement dans les forêts méridionales du canton» (Bronner 1844).Aucun auteur n'a reparlé ultérieurement de sa présence en Argovie.BÂLE En 1653, la ville de Bâle autorisait la chasse du lynx, ainsi que celle de l'ours, dans le baillage de Farnsburg.L'espèce s'est maintenue dans l'évêché de Bâle jusqu'à la fin du xvme siècle (Morel, Statistique de l'Evêché de Bâle in Gérard 1871).Burckhardt (1841), ne mentionne pas le lynx.Berne Le lynx a habité les Alpes bernoises jusqu'au milieu du xixe siècle.Kônig (1814) écrit que des lynx venant du Valais font de très rares apparitions.Au cours de l'été 1814, trois ou quatre individus auraient détruit plus de 160 chèvres et moutons dans les montagnes du Simmental (Tschudi 1853).Plusieurs lynx ont été capturés ou abattus dans le canton: un mâle ad., en décembre 1804, pris au piège sur la route du Grimsel, une femelle et un jeune pris la même année, près de Wimmis; un individu tué au Gurnigel avait causé des dégâts dans la région de
