Title: Ein Philosoph in der Krise? - Meng Ke und die Zeitenwende
Abstract: Eschatologisches, d.h. auf eine Endzeit hin ausgerichtetes Denken birgt in sich grundsatzlich das Risiko einer Krise. Der kritische Moment kommt dann, wenn ein lange vorausberechneter Zeitpunkt, zu dem sich eine unerfreuliche Gegenwart zugunsten einer besseren verabschieden sollte, nicht eintrifft oder sich zumindest verzogert. Betrachtet man den Anfang der christlichen Kirche aus dem Blickwinkel der judischen Eschatologie, so war deren Abspaltung vom „mainstream“ absehbar, sobald Mitglieder der judischen Gemeinde in ihrer Mitte einen solchen Messias fur gekommen hielten. Da mit der Ankunft des Messias die Vorstellung von einem unmittelbar bevorstehenden Weltende verbunden war, muste in dem Moment, in dem letzteres nicht eintrat, auch der „Messias“ von den Juden als falsch entlarvt werden. Da die ersten Christen wiederum davon ausgingen, das der auferstandene Heiland noch zu ihren Lebzeiten wiederkommen und sie in das neue Jerusalem holen werde, bahnte sich hier bereits die nachste Krise an, die jedoch durch die Lehre der Verheisung, mit der die Verzogerung des Weltendes erklart werden konnte, langfristig aufgefangen werden konnte. Auf eben dieses Phanomen kommt Reinhart Kosselleck (1979, S.33) in seinem Buch „Vergangene Zukunft: Zur Semantik geschichtlicher Zeiten“ zu sprechen, wo er uber die eschatologische Pragung der christlichen Geschichtsschreibung schreibt: „Das ausbleibende Weltende hatte die Kirche konstituiert und in eins damit eine statische Zeit, die als Tradition erfahrbar ist.“ Gerade die Verzogerung eines erwarteten Zeitpunkts kann insofern als Chance zur Krisenbewaltigung aufgefast werden, indem der erfahrungsgemas langere Zeitraum, in dem sich ein erwarteter terminus ad quem verzogert, genutzt wird, um eine die „Zeit dazwischen“ uberbruckende Lehre zu etablieren. In der chinesischen Tradition finden sich ahnliche Vorstellungen, die jedoch entgegen der linearen Ausrichtung auf einen einzigen Endpunkt hin uberwiegend von sich zyklisch wiederholenden Zeitenwenden ausgehen. Die Vorstellung, die im Mittelpunkt dieses Beitrags steht, propagiert eine sich in Abstanden von rund funfhundert Jahren wiederholenden Herrschaft eines weisen Konigs, der eine Zeit des „Hochsten Friedens“ taiping 太平 herbeifuhrt. Dieser ersehnte Zustand wird in der chinesischen Terminologie auch als der einer „wohlgeordneten Regierung“ zhi 治 bezeichnet, wahrend sein Gegenstuck, dessen Maximum zeitlich der Ankunft eines weisen Konigs polar entgegengesetzt ist, als Zeit des Nicht-Geordnetseins luan 亂 gesehen wird. In zahlreichen Texten, deren Abfassung ins 5.-3. Jahrhundert v.Chr. datiert wird, findet man dieses Konzept eines vom Himmel vorgegebenen zyklischen Wechsels von idealer bis hin zu miserabler Herrschaft.
