Title: Comparative Evaluation of Signal (Brachiaria decumbense) And Guinea (Paniium maximum) Grasses in Buffalo Heifers
Abstract: Signal (Brachiaria decumbense) and duiuea (Panicum maximumu grasses were fed ad lib to 2 groups of Murrah buffalo heifers (4 in each group) at preflowering stage after chopping for their nutritional evaluation. N-balance was positive in both groups. Digestibility of nutrients was higher (P<0.05) in Signal than in Guinea fed group. The grasses contained DCP 4.65, 4.14% aad TDN 64.80, 60.26% respectively. It was concluded that Signal grass was better utilized than Guinea grass in'buffalo heifers.
