Title: [Aspects of spatial population development in Austria in light of the 1981 population census].
Abstract: Spatial aspects of population trends in Austria are analyzed using data from the 1981 census. Differences among regions, districts, and urban and rural areas are considered. The findings indicate that increasing birth rates and migration led to a population increase in western Austria, while the population declined in the eastern part of the country and remained fairly stable in the southern region. An increasing tendency for the population to concentrate in small municipalities (except in Upper Austria) is also noted.
