Title: Nematodes of betelvine and their management – A review
Abstract: A number of plant parasitic nematodes have been reported on betelvine causing 3.9 to 40.28 per cent loss in yield. The root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) alone has been reported to result in 26–38 percent yield losses. High population of root knot and reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniforms) was noted from March to June. Sesbania grandiflora and S. sesban act as reservoir for the nematodes. The nematodes have been found important and vital in the development of wilt and root rot diseases caused by fungi and bacteria. Aldicrb among chemicals and Paecilomyces lilacinus bio agents have been found effective in reducing the nematode population.
