Abstract: This paper looks at the varied Asian film industries and ponders the chances for Singapore to develop as a point centre for Asian cinema. It addresses some of the recent developments in the industry, such as experiments in co-productions between nations and the announcement that Lucasfilm plans to develop a studio in Singapore. The author explores the implications of these developments and offers some suggestions on how the country's film sector might best develop itself.
