Title: Meaning and Well-Being: Indian Perspectives
Abstract: Discourse on meaning and well-being has been an integral aspect of Vedic, Vedic-related, and non-Vedic traditions of India. Although there are differences in certain details, there is wide agreement in India that the true meaning of life and the ultimate sense of well-being are manifestations of the same transcendental state of awareness, which human beings are capable of accessing. To be established in such a state also means that one is free from the repeated cycles of birth and death humans are said to undergo. Such an understanding of human existence and human potentiality has resulted in a qualitatively distinct perspective on life, meaning, and well-being in India.
