Title: A Study of Pasturing and Soiling Alfalfa with Beef Steers1
Abstract: The amount of beef produced in this study by rotation grazing, strip grazing, green soiling, and wilt soiling of alfalfa has been determined. No significant difference was found in the gains of steers on these four treatments. Beef production per acre, however, was significantly lower on rotation grazing than on any other treatment. Green soiling resulted in a 69 percent increase in beef production over rotation grazing, while wilt soiling and strip grazing resulted in 36 and 39 percent increases respectively.
