Information Systems, Barchelor’s Thesis Supervisor: Seppanen, Ville One of the main barriers of sharing and combining knowledge is the reluctance of individuals. Especially in global companies a significant competitive advantage can be created through sharing the knowledge across the company. With the help of literature the possibilities to enhance knowledge sharing with the social media is studied. The knowledge and the social media are defined. Together with the knowledge sharing models the motivation of sharing knowledge is studied. Methods to improve knowledge sharing with social media are formulated using the results of the literature review. In this study was found that the benefits of the social media in the knowledge sharing can be crystallized in two issues: motivational elements can be added to social media applications and communities of practices can be expanded with the help of social networking sites.Read More
