Title: Measurement of transit in the gastrointestinal tract using $sup 198$Au- colloid
Abstract: This study was undertaken to clarify the suitability of /sup 198/ Aucolloid and Na/sub 2//sup 51/CrO/sub 4 for a marker of transit in the gastrointestinal tract. The distribution, the excretion into the feces and urine, the absorption, and excretion through the gastrointestinal tract were investigated in mice by means of sample measurement and whole-body autoradiography. Orally administered /sup 198/Aucolloid was not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and all was excreted into the feces. /sup 198/Au- colloid was not adhered to the gastrointestinal mucosa and consequently, the excretion into the feces was not delayed. On the other hand, orally administered rointestinal tract, distributed to the whole body and a part of it was excreted into the urine. Intravenously injected Na/sub 2/ /sup 51/CrO/sub 4/ was excreted into the gastrointestinal tract. It is concluded from the results obtained that / sup 198/Au-colloid is available for a marker of gastrointestinal transit but Na/ sub 2/ /suip 51/CrO/sub 4/ is unavailable. (auth)
