Abstract: The Calice collaboration is assembling a prototype calorimeter composed of an electromagnetic calorimeter, a hadronic calorimeter and a tail catcher. The calorimeter will be tested in particular in a hadron test beam in 2006-07. The goals of the project are to demonstrate the feasibility of a highly granular calorimeter optimised for the use at the International Linear Collider (ILC), and to deliver data to tune the hadronic models of the simulation GEANT4. One third of the silicon-tungsten electromagnetic calorimeter has been assembled and tested with cosmic muons and with electrons of 1 to 6 GeV in the test-beam at DESY. Some preliminary results are shown.
