From 1 to 2% of the patients with t...Background: The word tinnitus comes from the latin word “tinnire” which means “sounding” or “to sound”. It affects an average of 10 to 14% of the people in general. From 1 to 2% of the patients with this disease show that it affects very significantly the quality of their lifestyles. Objective: To determine the effect of tinnitus on quality of life of patientes atended at Mexican General Hospital. Patients and method: A descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was made in which the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was applied to patients attended at external consultation of Otorhinolaryngology of Mexican General Hospital. Results: Surveys were applied to 30 patients, of which in those over age 66 (13.3%) the tinnitus had higher impact on their daily lives, while in those below 35 years tinnitus had no impact, not showing a predilection for gender.
