Abstract: Computer animation is an essential technology in the field of film, CF and TV industries. Character animation is widely used in the field of computer games, web contents, and virtual reality, as well as in the film and production industries. We can make character animations efficiently by using motion capture data generated by motion capture methods. With the motion capture data, we can make realistic character animation easily and rapidly. A realistic and desirable new motion can be obtained by performing transformations on existing motion data. Several motion transformation approaches have been developed such as motion adaptation, motion editing, motion blending, and motion transition. Using thses algorithms, we can reduce the huge expense of capturing motions because it is not needed to capture new motions whenever they are needed. Also, we can save time because we can make new motions on the fly. Since we can make new motions needed in computer games in real-time, very realistic results can be obtained.
