Title: Efficacy of Herbicides Applied Alone and in Combinations against Weeds in Transplanted Rice
Abstract: A field experiment carried out during kharif 1994 and 1995 revealed that the average reduction in grain yield was 43.2% in unweeded check as compared to weed free treatment. Weed free treatment recorded the highest grain yield (48.8 q/ha) which was at par with hand weeding twice (42.0 and 46.7 q/ha during 1994 and 1995, respectively). Hand weeding twice and anilofos+2,4-D readymix (0.40+0.53 kg/ha) were equally good with regard to grain yield, yield attributes, reduction in weed population and dry weight during both the years. Hand weeding twice at 20 and 40 days was also found statistically similar to anilofos 0.40 kg, butachlor 1.5 kg and pretilachlo; 0.75 kg/ha during 1994 in increasing yield and decreasing weed dry weight.
