Title: Access to Finance Amongst Micro Traders in Nigeria; The Role Trade Credit and Other Sources of Finance Play within Markets
Abstract: This study is on intervention for Improved Access to Finance for Business Expansion among Micro traders in Eke-Otu Market, Amaechi-Uwani, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State. The observed inability for micro businesses to expand in scope after a long period of operation forms the major problem necessitating the study. Hence, the study mainly seeks to identify innovative mechanism for funding business expansion amongst others. The study used Focus Group Discussion in eliciting data from 29 respondents selected through combination of non-probability sampling techniques. Findings revealed that trade credit stands out as the best mechanism among other sources of funding for business expansion in Eke-Otu Market. This study recommends amongst others the intervention by state and non-state actors via standing in as guarantors to encourage wholesalers to expand trade credit facilities to the micro traders.
