Title: On the History of Literary Organizations in the First Soviet Years
Abstract: The building of a new socialist culture began in our country in the bitter years of civil war and economic ruin. There was not enough of anything - textbooks, printing paper, ink. But the most acute and complicated problem was that of personnel, of people capable of giving life to the tremendous plans of cultural revolution. Therefore, without forgetting for a moment that the proletarian revolution inevitably leads to sharp political division among the creative intelligentsia, Lenin persistently called on the people and the Party to adopt a solicitous attitude toward those who create intellectual values and to reshape, remold, and reeducate them. (1) That was no easy task. However, due to the constant concern of the Party and the Soviet government for the material and intellectual needs of the creative intelligentsia, little by little its very broadest strata, often regardless of their subjective views, began to cooperate actively in the task of bringing enlightenment to the triumphant people.
