Title: Management of Sunflower Rust Through Fungicides
Abstract: Efficacy of six non-systemic and nine systemic fungicides were tested in vitro against Puccinia helianthi by assessing the inhibition of uredospore germination. Among non-systemic fungicides, chlorothalonil was found to be the most effective followed by mancozeb. While among the systemic fungicides, propiconazole, hexaconazole, tridemorph and penconazole were most effective in inhibiting uredospore germination. Propiconazole (0.1%), hexaconazole (0.1%), and chlorothalonil (0.2%) gave good results in controlling the disease under field conditions for two years. These treatments recorded higher seed yield, test weight and oil content during both the years.
