Title: The Relationship between Multiple Intelligences, foreign Language Learning Anxiety, and English Language Proficiency: A Case Study of Taiwanese EFL College Students
Abstract: The study aims to explore the relationship between multiple intelligences, foreign language learning anxiety, and English language proficiency. A total of 141 Taiwanese EFL college freshmen served as subjects of the study. They were arranged to take an English language proficiency test and fill out questionnaires dealing with their intelligences (Gardner 1993) and foreign language learning anxiety (Horwitz, Horwitz, and Cope 1986). All available data was processed by SPSS 16. Findings show that intelligence is related to foreign language learning anxiety, and predictive to English language proficiency. It is suggested that teachers should take students' individual differences of intelligences and anxiety into consideration for more effective foreign language teaching and learning.
