Title: INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT MEDIA, PH AND TEMPERATURE ON GROWTH AND SPORULATION OF ALTERNARIA ALTERNATA (FR.) KEISSLER, CAUSING ALTERNARIA BLIGHT OF CHICKPEA
Abstract: Of the eleven media tested, potato-dextrose agar supported best mycelial growth (51.5 mm) and sporulation of the fungus which is followed by potato mashed dextrose agar, nutrient agar, host leaf extract agar and Richard's agar, Asthana and Hawker's agar, Haustan's agar, beef extract agar, Czapek's Dox agar, V-B juice agar and Elliot's agar media. The colony size and sporulation of A. altemata was maximum at 25° C on potato-dextrose agar medium followed by 20,30, 15 and 35°C. Maximum mycelial growth (62.1 mm) of the test fungus was observed at pH 5.5 which is followed by pH 6.0, 5.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0. 8.5, 9.0 and 9.5.
