Title: NETWORK CONTROL FOR IMPROVED PERFORMANCE--A NEW CONCEPT FOR ON-LINE SCHEDULING DISPATCHING
Abstract: This paper describes the Network Control concept for train management, developed for use in the Netherlands Railways. The aim of Network Control is to achieve handling larger numbers of trains while concurrently increasing performance. The route setting process will then be able to shift from automatic route setting toward route management. Network Control distinguishes 4 layers and a generic architecture for each layer. This architecture forms the basis for the distributed handling of potential scheduling/dispatching conflicts and resolution.
