This paper shows how to read and perform early music judging from what I’ve done in my career as a flutist. First of all, performers should get much information from literary sources, iconography, prefaces to printed editions, keen analysis of musical manuscripts and the notated music itself. Secondly, performers should too learn the composer’s language and try to find out where he expected us to position them in each particular piece.Read More
