Diagnosis ...Pseudomonas infection is a bacterial diseases affecting frog (Rana tigerina) and soft-shell turtles (Trionyx sinensis) and has a significant economic impact on these industries in Thailand. Diagnosis of this disease is mainly based on conventional bacteriological methods, which are limited in their sensitivity. Since early detection of this pathogen is important for farm management, a sensitive and rapid method of detection is required. Here, a DNA-based method was developed by amplification of genes in the 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer. This method was proven to be specific and sensitive to detect Pseudomonas sp. to the sub-clinical infection level.Read More
