Title: Para (Brachiria Mutica) Grass Grown in Cattle Sewage Water as Feed for Crossbred Calves
Abstract: Para (Braehiaria mutica) grass grown in cattle sewage water (CSW) was fed to six male crossbred calves as sole feed. Voluntary intake of DM per 100 kg body weight was 3.62 2g. The digestibilities of DM, CP, EE, CF and NFE were e1.64, 76.20, 63.86, 61.59 and 57.19 per cent respectively. The DCP and TDN of CSW grown para were 12.11 and 57.79 per cent respectively on DM basis. Urinary excretion of N was 58.67 per cent of total N intake. N balance was positive, CSW grown para grass as sole feed met 120.33 and 77.08 per cent of DCP and TDN requirement of the calves suggesting need for energy supplementation.
