Title: Chemical Control of Mixed Population of Wild Oats (Avena ludoviciana Dur.) and Broad Leaf Weeds in Wheat
Abstract: A field study on control of mixed population of wild oats (Avena ludoviciana Dur.) and broad leafweeds from wheat was carried out at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1992–93 and 1993–94. Isoproturon plus (isoproturon + 2,4-D) provided good control of all weeds in wheat when applied either before or after irrigation and compared very well with recommended treatment of isoproturon 0.56 kg (BFI) followed by 2,4-D 0.50 kg/ha (AFI). Isoproturon plus 0.75 kg/ha applied before first irrigation resulted in 4.4, 43.9 and 182.8% higher yield than recommended herbicides treatment (isoproturon f.b. 2,4-D), two hand hoeings and unweeded (control), respectively. Tankmix application of diclofopmethyl + metsulfuron gave poor control of weeds and hence resulted in lowest grain yield, because of incompatilbility.
