Abstract: This chapter discusses the biochemical (use of isoenzymes and antibodies) and DNA-based (restriction fragment length polymorphisms, satellite DNA probes and polymerase chain reaction or PCR, ribosomal DNA PCR, sequence characterized amplified regions, random amplified polymorphic DNA, real-time PCR and microarrays) methods employed in the study of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) taxonomy. Future directions in this field of research are mentioned.
