Abstract: MATLAB program environment offer a series of effective tools (called toolboxes) for the specific scientific and engineering applications. One of them is System Identification Toolbox (SIT), which is used for identification of dynamic systems from measured data. The aim of the work is to explain basic concepts and methodologies, developing practices and examples for application utilization of the toolbox. The emphasis is on identifying one-dimensional systems using data files measured offline. Basic concepts, classification methods and identification procedures in the environment of the toolbox are described in the theoretical part. The practical part includes description of the SIT and its interconnection with other Matlab/Simulink utilities. The work provides detailed instructions for the identification of real and simulated measurements. The annex contains a guide for study purposes.
