Title: Bioefficacy of Dinitroaniline Herbicides against Weeds in Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)
Abstract: An experiment was conducted on sandy loam soil during kharif 1999 and 2000 at Oilseeds Research Area of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar to study the effect of trifluralin, pendimethalin and fluchloralin on weed control in sesame. Experimental field was dominated with Echinochloa colonum L., Dactyloctenium aegypticum L. and Trianthema portulacastrum L. On an average, season long weed competition caused 61% reduction in seed yield. Two hoeings at 3 and 6 WAS, integration of either fluchloralin, pendimethalin or trifluralin at 1.0 kg ha−1 with one hoeing at 4 WAS were significantly better in terms of weed control efficiency and seed yield as compared to one hoeing at 4 WAS or herbicides used alone.
